THE NEC CERTIFICATES TWO NEWLY REGISTERED POLITICAL PARTIES February 7th, 2017
The National Elections Commission (NEC) on Tuesday February 7, 2017 held a Program of Accreditation for two proposed Political Parties as Registered Political Parties in the Republic of Liberia.
The parties accredited by the NEC were the CHANGE DEMOCRATIC ACTION (CDA) and the COALITION FOR LIBERIA’S PROGRESS (CLP)
Presenting the certificates of accreditation to the organizing Committee chairpersons was the NEC Chairman, Cllr. Jerome George Korkoya who said that the two proposed political parties had met all the requirements in keeping with ARTICLE 79 of the Constitution of Liberia.
The NEC Boss congratulated the registered parties and encouraged them to operate within the confines of the Law. The latest registration brings to a total of twenty-one Registered Political Parties. Chairman Korkoya warned them against Pre-campaigning and further stressed that NEC is taking the pre-campaign issue very seriously.
Speaking on behalf of the newly registered political parties were their organizing committee chairpersons Mr. Amos Nyanwleh Tubor of the CLP and Rev. Augustine P Nimeley, both organizing chairpersons thanked the Commission for demonstrating their ability to conduct a free, fair, transparent elections and further expressed their explicit confidence in the Commission in handling the electoral process. They told the audience that they have intentions to take part in the 2017 general elections.
