NEC Begins Candidate Nomination for the Conduct of the Cape Mount By-elections on Tuesday

Candidate Nomination Exercise for the Senatorial By-election in Grand Cape Mount County will begin on Tuesday, August 13 to 21, 2019 at the NEC Headquarters in Monrovia.

According to the National Elections Commission (NEC), the Exercise will be conducted daily from 9:00AM to 05:00PM, Monday to Saturday.

According to a release, applicants wishing to be nominated for the By-election must appear in person during the Nomination Period.

Nominations forms for candidates representing Political Parties will be delivered to the Chairman or Secretary General of the Parties for distribution to the members. 
According to the Commission, political parties can also designate a Liaison Officer to pick up nomination forms, while Independent Aspirants are requested to personally pick up their forms.

The National Elections Commission informs the public that general Requirements for the Nomination of candidates are: that the Aspirant must be a Liberian, must be a registered voter of the county and must be a taxpayer.

The aspirant must also be 30 years of age or above, and must be domiciled within the county one year prior to the election. 
The Grand Cape Mount By-election will be on October 5, 2019. The writ of election for the conduct of the By-election was issued on Friday August 9, 2019 to the Magistrate of the County, David Armah. The By-election is to fill the senatorial seat left behind by the death of lawmaker Edward Dagoseh.
