NEC Completes Certification all 73 Representatives, as Kargon and Womba join others April 16th, 2018

The National Elections Commission (NEC) today certificated the last two remaining Representatives as Winners of the October 10, 2017 Presidential and Representative elections in Liberia following a Supreme Court ruling.

The two are Robert Flomo Womba of District number 4, in Bong County and Gunpue L. Kargon of District Number 4, in Nimba County.

This follows a mandate from the Supreme Court of Liberia ordering the NEC to certificate the two after a long-standing dispute, which led to the conduct a re-count in both districts.

The Commission had earlier ruled in favor of Kargon and Womba but their respective challengers appealed to the Supreme Court.

The Chairman of NEC, Cllr. Jerome Korkoya, in a special statement at the colorful and well-attended certification program said the certification of Representatives Robert Flomo Womba of Bong County and Gunpue L. Kargon of Margibi County brings to an end all elections related cases before the Commission.

Cllr. Jerome Korkoya said the certification of Representatives Womba and Kargon means the NEC has finally certificated all 73 Winners from the October 10, 2017 Representatives election in Liberia.

The program was held at the Headquarters of the Commission on 9th Street Sinkor in the James M. Fromanya Conference Hall.

The two winners, in separate remarks, commended the NEC for the transparent manner in which they dispensed justice, saying they believe justice has taken place and the rule of law has been demonstrated to all.
