NEC Releases Total Number of Registered Voters in Liberia

The National Elections Commission has released the total number of registered Voters in Liberia.


The data which was released at a press conference Monday put the total number of registered voters in the country at 1,903,229.


The Chairman of the National  Elections Commission, Jerome Korkoya, said the figures represent a combination of figures from the 2011 Voter Registration Exercise and the 2014 Voter Roll Update Process.


The total number of registered voters in 2011 was 1,798,930 while the 2014 Voter Roll Update Exercise registered 104,710 new voters.


Chairman Korkoya said, of this number, 986,190 or 52% are males while 917,039 or 48% are females. 


“Based on this result, Montserrado County has the highest number of registered voters totaling 649,484 or 34% followed by Nimba with 241,903 Registered Voters or 13%.  Bong and Lofa Counties have 178,866 and 164,203 or 9% each, respectively.” The NEC Boss intimated.


He said Rivercess and River Gee Counties have the lowest numbers of registered voters recorded at 31,550 and 31,515 or 2% each, respectively
