The National Elections Commission of the Liberia (NEC) has lauded efforts to establish Election Monitoring and Violence Prevention Situation Room (CEMVIP-SR), a network intended to closely monitor the ongoing Special Senatorial Elections and Referendum.
The NEC’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Director Ms. Ernestine Bass, made the assertions when she represented the Chairperson of the Commission during the formative meeting held at the ECOWAS Compound. It brought together stakeholders and Partners representing Carter Center, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rev. Williams R. Tolbert III, National Peace Ambassador, Senator Commany Wesseh, ECOWAS Ambassador, H.E. Babatunde O. Ajisomo, amongst others.
The Network, when set in motion would do a lot to mitigate and avert incidents that could escalate into violence during the Voter Roll Update and the December 8, 2020 Special Senatorial Election and the Constitutional Referendum, while providing safeguards for the COVID-19 menace.
