(Monrovia; Friday, June 17, 2016); The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially released the KEY DATES of the 2017 General Elections.
The KEY DATES track important dates throughout the 2017 Election Cycle and sets February 1 to March 24, 2017 as the Period for Voter Registration while the Writs of Elections is scheduled to be issued on May 9, 2017.
The Key Dates also show that the Exhibition of the Provisional Registration Roll and Distribution of Voter ID Cards will run from June 10 to 20, 2017; Candidates Nomination from July 2 to 24, 2017 and Presidential and Representative Campaign Period from August 8 to October 8, 2017.
The Key Dates further sets October 10, 2017 as Elections Day while the Announcement of Final Results of the Elections is scheduled for October 25, 2017.
The Key Dates were released Friday at the headquarters of the Commission in Monrovia.
In an official statement to release the Key Dates, the Chairman of the Commission, Cllr. Jeriome G. Korkoya, said the release of the Key Dates is an expression of the preparedness of the Commission to conduct free and fair elections in Liberia in 2017.
He said some activities of the Key Dates released Friday are subject to adjustment based on prevailing circumstances.
The release of the KEY DATES of the 2017 General Elections is part of efforts by the NEC to stimulate public awareness and participation in all aspects of the electoral process.
